OSLCmedia

I’m excited!

We are getting Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church connected with social media! I see it as a great opportunity to reach more people and keep in contact with those currently associated with OSLC. I have started using three major sites to share photos, videos, and information. I’ll link uploads to these social media sites to our current website so that people can view that information when they visit.

We’ve setup accounts on the following social media sites:

twitterTwitter – we will be using twitter under the name @oslc to connect with other twitter users. The idea is to also get more of our congregation on twitter. There is a great book written by Anthony Coppedge called “The Reason YOUR CHURCH Must Twitter. Check out Mark Brown’s blog about it.

Anthony says; “…there’s not a faster or easier way to reach your congregation and community on their cell phones in real time. If your church is about reaching people, don’t you want to literally reach them?”

flickrFlickr – we will be using flickr as our online photo gallery. We currently have a photo gallery in our website but flickr is more robust and will allow us to embed slide shows of certain events to different areas on the web. It’s also just pretty much awesome. I’ve been using it for some time for my personal photos as well as my [Year 24] project. I’m a flickr fan!

vimeoVimeo – is a great way to share videos. It is similar to YouTube, however I like it better because it is a little more clean-cut and is not bogged down with random “stupid” videos. It has a cleaner look when one of its videos is embedded into a website or blog and it’s all around awesome.

So check out any of those three sites that we use. We will be using them more and more in the future! And if you are not on Twitter… please consider getting an account.

If you’re still not convinced… check out this video (which I’ve posted before)!
