Dealing With Our Rags
Carlos recently asked on his blog what the term “Ragamuffin” means to his readers. I’ve been thinking a lot about it and this is what I came up with:
When I first heard the name of his blog it made me think about rags. I sometimes think of us all as rags just wiping up the messes that we’ve created. The messes we’ve created because we haven’t listened to God, the messes we’ve created because we didn’t spend time with our families, the messes we’ve created because we’ve lied to our friends, the messes we’ve created because of our pride.
We are all broken. We all have baggage. Some of us travel through life with carry-on baggage. We have our rags right out in the open for everyone to see. While others travel through life checking our bags so that we’re not constantly reminded of our rags and so others don’t see our rags.
One way isn’t better than the other. But I do believe that we all have to clean our rags at some point. If you travel with your rags in a carry-on, don’t forget to stow it away every so often and live in the moment. On the flip side, if you travel with your rags in check baggage, don’t forget to go to baggage claim now and then and clean your rags.
Here’s the kicker.
Are you ready?
Get ready.
God will clean our dirty rags for us if we let him!

very good reminder… thanks
the rags of our souls
but I need constant cleaning, don't we all
but you know – the world needs to see our rags and how God cleans them again and again
we are not perfect, pretending to be just drives the people away that we need to connect with and lead to our Saviour
yes indeed!
