mychurch – What Makes You Smile?

As a part of our 2010 capital campaign called mychurch, we went around and asked some of our congregation members what makes them smile about Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Here are some of their responses.

If you’re a member of Our Saviour’s and you didn’t get a chance to be interviewed for this video, please share with me what makes you smile about Our Saviour’s in the comment section below!

Update: mychurch makes me smile because of it’s amazing heart for missions and the way it includes the congregation in those missions. mychurch also makes me smile because of the amazing youth program. Without that program I would not be the person I am today and that is why I have stayed so connected with the program in various leadership roles throughout the years.

If you’re not a member of Our Saviour’s but attend a different church, I ask you the same question… what makes you smile about your church?

American Icon

Many years ago, when my friends and I were super creative and were the lead creative team for a worship service called 747 and later re-named Element, we produced a video… a parody if you will on the popular TV show American Idol. We called it American Icon. Below is the video… in all it’s self-humiliating glory.

Ladies and Gentlemen… I Give You: American Icon

Called to Serve

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, the church I work for, recently sent James Baker to live in Chimoio, Mozambique. He will be there for 10 months acting as our feet on the ground in Chimoio. We have sent him there to work with the community and find out what we can do to help them. The area is impoverished and the HIV/AIDS infection rate is very high.

Before James left (actually less than 12 hours before he left) I set him up with a blog so that our church community could follow his journey. In the short time since he’s been gone, he has been blogging up a storm! I wanted to share with you his story. Please pray for him and for the people of Our Saviour’s as we all journey into the unknown, filled with faith.
