Android Apps I Recommend

I know I have been taking my sweet time on getting this particular post posted. Sorry for the wait. I’ve been pretty busy lately. So anyways… here are some apps in the Android Market that I’ve installed on my Droid X and that I absolutely love.

The crazy black and white boxes below each app’s name is called a QR code. App #1 on my list is the app that will allow you to scan and download the following apps easily using your phone’s camera.

Okay here’s my list:

1. Barcode Scanner

Just go to the Android Market app on your Android device and search for this app. With it you can scan barcodes on CDs, books, and other products, when look up prices and reviews. You can also scan QR codes containing URLs, contact info, calendar events and as I’m displaying on the following apps in this list… URLs to the Android Market.

2. Advanced Task Killer

This is a must have app for any Android device. It is a tool to kill applications that are running in the background. One of the things that sets the Android OS apart from say, iOS… is that it is true multi-tasking. Which is great! Except for your battery life. You should manually run this app periodically to kill off apps that are running in the background… even after you’ve stopped using them.

I’m such a nerd… I love it when people do this kind of thing.

What Motivates Us?

I found this video while scrolling through ChurchCreate.

First off I just want to say that the drawing along with the voice over was a little hard to get used to at first but once I did, I thought it was fantastic!

Motivation is an interesting concept, and one that I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. I am a firm believer that people are capable of anything they put their mind to. The problem usually is in the putting their mind to it part. I call that being in a rut. I know I have been in a rut before in life. Those times where you just do what you have to in order to get by.

I think it’s important for us all to find something we enjoy doing, and then strive to do it with excellence. This video got me thinking about what motivates me.

Professionally, I am motivated to find the most cost effective ways to support my church’s ministries with the best technology available. It doesn’t always work out that way… but that is the overall goal.

Personally, I am motivated to be a good friend to those close to me. I don’t always excel there… but I never stop trying to be the best friend I can be. For me… it’s all about community. I love being around people I love. I love spending time just hanging out… down the street… the same old thing… dang, you see what That 70′s Show has done to me?! Being in community with each other is my biggest thing. Sanctus Real said it best, Oh Oh… we need each other.

What motivates you?
