Now That’s Worth Repeating: [Who Made God?]

Don’t get excited… I’m not tackling this question. I was at our 10:00am worship service this morning and when Pastor Mark was dismissing the children to go to Sunday school a wee one asked, “Who Made God?“. Click that question to hear the audio.

I just thought it was pretty cool to hear the kids getting into the whole church thing. Oftentimes we may ask ourselves, are kids really getting anything out of going to church? Do they comprehend what the meaning of it all is? Well let me tell you, when you hear a question like “Who Made God?“… you know they’re listening, you know they’re critical thinkers. That’s so cool!

Wouldn’t it be cool if…?

Wouldn’t it be cool if I could transfer mp3s from my home network to my car’s internal hard drive via my home’s wireless network? It would be totally sweet if I could drag and drop mp3 files onto my car’s networked hard drive so that the next time I started up my car… I could play them through some sort of computerized iPhoney interface!

Life Upgrades in 2009

So I had some time to read while sitting in the airport and while on my plane rides to and from Vegas this past weekend. I picked up U.S. News and World Report. The current issue has “50 Ways to Improve Your Life in 2009″. Some of them seemed dumb to me but some were pretty good. The following are the ones I thought were good and my own personal thoughts on them.

  1. Bike to work: I’d love to be able to bike to work… I’ll likely do it when I’m able to move back to Naperville and I’m a bit closer to church.
  2. Pick up some new job skills: Seems like a good move. I see this as telling us to always be learning. Don’t ever get stuck in a rut and refuse to move forward. I think it is important to want to always do what you’re doing better. I think that most people do the best at their job that they can based on their current skill-set. If our skill-set were more robust we might be able to do our job better!
  3. Be a Microblogger: It mentions Twitter! I like microblogging because it holds me accountable. If I “tweet” that I’m going to do something… I like to be able to “tweet” again later with results. It’s also a nice tool to keep up with friends that you may otherwise not talk to that often. I also like microblogging because I personally believe that it is one of the many tools that will lead us into a more connected and technologically savvy society.
  4. Save that Nov. 5 Paper: Seriously… no matter who you voted for… history was made!
  5. Make Yourself an Author: I like this one… I’m not planning on writing any books soon but I think it’s important for people to get their thoughts, goals and dreams down on paper… (or screen).
  6. Make More Friends at Work: It’s important to be friendly with the people you spend most of your day with. You’ll be a much happier person if you like your co-workers and visa-versa.
  7. Watch TV free online: Hulu.com people! That’s where it’s at! TECHNOLOGY FOR THE WIN!!!
  8. Build Your Own Brand: That’s what I’m doing with this blog. The goal is that I discuss relevant topics and at times bring my meandering thoughts full-circle and in-line with Our Saviour’s current topic of message discussion. U.S. News and World Report mentions here that the more of a fixture you are to your company… the better job security you have. That’s not really why I’m doing it… but it’s an added bonus I guess.
  9. Choose Obama Stocks: Do I really need to explain this one?!?!
  10. Swap Paper for Screens: Read things online! Not in a magazine… I know… I’m a hypocrite here. I read that in a magazine. But I was in an airplane guys! There’s no internet in the sky… yet…
  11. Spread Tolerance: Be mindful of others and other people’s differences. Just because somebody acts and thinks differently than you doesn’t mean they’re a bad person. It’s just what makes them unique. Spread the love!

Those are the ones that really stuck out at me. You should read the article on it though. It was pretty good.
